ACTOR Sean Penn’s marriage to Robyn Wright Penn reportedly ended because he started dating actress Natalie Portman, said reports on Tuesday.
According to Star magazine, Penn, 48, and Portman, 27, have been dating since March 17.
The pair were seen kissing for over 45 minutes at the Tower Bar in LA’s Sunset Tower Hotel reported the magazine.
A source quoted by Star magazine said the couple first became friends when they worked together in May 2008 as jury members at the Cannes Film Festival in France.
“She stimulates him in ways no other person has, mentally or professionally,” a source told Star magazine.
“There’s a lot more there with Natalie than any of the other girls Sean’s been with.”
The Penns filed for divorce in April citing irreconcilable differences reported news.com.au.
It was the second time they started divorce proceedings - the first was in 2007.

Natalie Portman has launched a new website giving film fans a chance to go behind the scenes on the making of films.
‘Making Of’ is founded by the actress along with consultant Christine Aylward. The pair have showed off the site and answered questions as part of a lecture series at the Apple Soho store in conjunction with the Tribeca Film Festival.
“I always find that when people visit me on site, they’re always so interested in how everything happens and what goes on,” says Natalie Portman.
“We realized there really isn’t a centralized place on the Web to get all that information, to hear from all the various parts of the team that make a film.”
She was quick to emphasize the site is a dot-com, meaning it hopes to make money.
Co-founder Aylward called it a “traditional Internet company” and indicated she has fielded interest from sponsors but the initial focus is on gathering content that people will want to watch.
So far ‘Making Of’ features lengthy conversations with actors Jason Bateman, Billy Bob Thornton, Olivia Thirlby as well as directors Ron Howard and Michel Gondry.
Portman and Aylward say they will soon add dozens more interviews as well as a community section where fans can interact with each other and professionals in the movie making business.
So should mainstream media companies who cover the entertainment industry be worried?
“There’s room for everyone,” laughed Natalie, before adding, “the people who provide the content that people really are looking for are the ones that succeed.
“Whether it’s quality or not is questionable, but obviously what people want sort of rules.”
Natalie Portman also has her own production company Handsomecharlie Films.

The year 1994 should have gone down in history as the year when hope and equality triumphed over oppression and racial division.
But, as the world celebrated the end of apartheid, elsewhere on the continent a genocide was about to commence. About 1million Rwandans were murdered and the international community chose to ignore it.

But ordinary people showed remarkable courage and resilience in the face of total despair. Now, 15 years later, it is that courage which has paved a new path for Rwanda.

But there is still work to be done. There are still schools to furnish, medication to administer and lives to rebuild. We must pledge to stand together in our mission to remember the atrocities.

We all share a duty to honour those who were murdered and support those who survived. We must pledge that crimes against humanity in a far-off country need just as vigorous a response as trouble on our own doorstep.

Dressed down in a blue and grey buttondown sweater with maroon trousers, the “V for Vendetta” cutie dropped by an antique shop to browse the store’s offerings.
And while it was reported that Natalie was spotted smooching Sean Penn a few weeks back, reports also tell that Ryan Gosling may be in the running for winning Miss Portman’s affection.
A source told the Chicago Sun Times newspaper: “Natalie always has been attracted to actors and other men who are intellectuals and Ryan qualifies.
“Along with continual and very poetic text messages, Ryan has been sending Natalie first editions of books he thinks she would like.”
